White House National Security Council Spokesperson John Kirby has confirmed that Russia has obtained an Anti-Satellite weapon, although not currently operational.

Kirby, in a statement said president Biden was briefed on the intelligence and that his administration was taking the development of the weapon very seriously.

According to him, the latest weapon could pose a lethal risk to astronauts in low orbit, along with potentially disrupting vital military and civilian satellites.

Meanwhile, Moscow has downplayed the U.S claims, describing them as a malicious fabrication and a ploy to secure the passage of a multibillion-dollar Ukrainian aid package through a resistant republican-led house of representatives.
