Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps has confirmed the arrest some miscreants accused of harassing and extorting traders on a pedestrian bridge in Yaba.

 

The arrest follows a viral video, showing the accused persons collecting money from people using the pedestrian bridge, prompting the corps trace the culprits and apprehend them.

 

In a post via X, commissioner for environment and water resources, Tokunbo Wahab said he instructed the corps to apprehend the culprits, describing their actions as unfortunate and condemnable, noting that bridges in the state are meant to be used freely without any hindrance or payment to anyone.

 

According to him, all those arrested will be arraigned immediately in court while the clampdown on those on the run would continue.

 

He also stated environmental nuisance and lawlessness of any kind will not be allowed in Lagos State., urging the general public to be calm as the government is committed to a safer, healthier and cleaner Lagos State.
