The senate today ignored the political leanings of some of the nominees for Resident Electoral Commissioners and confirmed them, alongside Shaakaa Chira from taraba state as auditor general for the federation.
The seven resident electoral commissioner nominees confirmed are Etekamba Umoren – Akwaibom; Isha Shaka Ehimeakne from Edo; Oluwatoyin Babalola – Ekiti ,Abubakar Ahmed – Gombe; Shehu Wahab – Kwara; Aminu Idris – Nasarawa; Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq- Niger.
While isma’ila kaura Moyi from Zamfara, Bunmi Omoseyindemi, Lagos and abubakar ma’aji from were not present for screening.
The nominees for akwa ibom, edo and rivers were proven to have affliations with the ruling all progressives congress.
Recall President Tinubu had written to the senate asking it to screen and confirm the new resident electoral commissioners for a term of five years.
