The fate of Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s mandate is to be revealed at a later date after the Supreme Court opted to reserve judgement in the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Saidu Umar against his election.

The five-member panel led by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun adjourned the matter for judgment after listening to the argument from the parties involved in the appeal.

Umar and the PDP had alleged that Governor Aliyu and his deputy, Idris Gobir, were not eligible to contest the governorship poll.

Earlier, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja dismissed Umar’s petition which also claimed that the election was marred by irregularities for lacking merit.
