the Lagos State Government is scheduled to conduct a census of pupils in state-owned primary schools from November 13 to 24 across 20 local government areas.

The exercise expected to take place in 1,020 government- owned primary schools is to validate the current size of pupils for the provision of quality and sustainable basic education.

Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ope George, said the survey would help the government understand the needs and challenges in the basic education system, to help policy makers take informed decisions and allocate resources efficiently.

He urged stakeholders and other experts to forge a strong partnership for a smooth and active participation in achieving a better basic education system in the state.

Ten coordinators, four evaluators, 100 enumerators, 60 mobilisers, 20 monitoring officers and 20 education secretaries from the local government education authority, to serve as supervisors, have been engaged and trained for the exercise.
