Lagos state government has unveiled plans to develop an integrated waste management system that encompasses advanced recycling and composting plant, to significantly reduce the environmental footprint of waste in the state.

 

In a statement via X, commissioner for environment and water resources, Tokunbo Wahab said the state government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the JOSPONG Group of Companies, to create a modernised waste collection method, that allows rehabilitation and retrofitting of existing waste management.

 

Wahab said the government is working on ways to address the over 13,000 metric tonnes of waste produced per day by a rapidly growing population and the consequent increase in waste generation.

 

According to the commissioner, the aim is to transform Lagos into a cleaner, healthier, and more prosperous community through innovative waste management solutions in line with the THEME AGENDA.
