The minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has hinted at more revolutionary initiatives and systems to upgrade the process of passport application and issuance, in line with global best practice.

 

Tunji-ojo in a video posted via X, revealed that more innovation will be unveiled this month in line with his promises to marshal a seamless process of passport acquisition, stating that a contactless technology will be launched on Friday. March 8.

 

According to the minister, the new technology will make relatively easier for Nigerians in diaspora, to renew their passports, using biometrics and other details, without having to visit the immigration office.

 

He also noted that the much anticipated E-Gate project aimed at providing easy passage for returning Nigerians at the airport will be launched this month, to ensure that the unnecessary delays in return halls disappear.
