Beneficiaries of a cash palliative program instituted by the Chairman of Eti Osa Local Government, Hon. Saheed Adesegun Bankole, have heaped praises on him for his thoughtfulness during this period of economic hardship.

The council kicked off the distribution program on Tuesday at the Local Government secretariat in Igbo Efon, distributing cash ranging from N25,000 to N100,000 to over 250 widows, elderly individuals, and traders.

The initiative continued with the distribution of food to over 3000 people on Wednesday.

Speaking on behalf of the Chairman, his Vice-Chairman, Hon. Adeola Adetoro-Adeyanju stated that beneficiaries were selected from beyond party lines and urged residents of the council to continue supporting Chairman Bankole’s efforts.

“The selection process for this palliatives program was fair and inclusive, cutting across all political affiliations,” Adetoro said. “We urge the good people of Eti-Osa to continue supporting Hon Saheed Bankole’s efforts to uplift our community.”

Giving a breakdown, Adetoro said business owners received one hundred thousand naira to support their businesses, while widows and the elderly received twenty-five thousand naira.

Her message was echoed by the Secretary to the Council, Hon. Idowu Badru, who emphasized that the palliatives initiative would not be a one-off event but would continue in the future.

“This is the third edition of the programme and I can assure you that this would continue” he said. “But the People of Eti-Osa should ensure that they keep praying for Government so we can continue to do the will of the people.”

“This program is just the beginning,” Badru stated. “We remain committed to providing support to our residents, regardless of their political affiliations, as we work towards a better Eti-Osa for all.”

Some of the beneficiaries, including Ashiata Lawal, Bello Babatunde, and Olusesi Olakunle, expressed their gratitude to Chairman Bankole, admitting that the funds and food would go a long way in easing their burdens during a time when inflation has affected the purchasing power of the naira.
