Lagos state government has appealed to operators in the hospitality sector, religious leaders and owners of other public spaces to adhere strictly to the state’s noise pollution laws or risk shutdown.

 

In a statement by the commissioner of environment and water resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the state environmental protection agency will continue to conduct comprehensive enforcement operation round the state, to ensure that businesses and religious set-ups do not constitute nuisance to public peace.

 

Wahab confirmed that some outlets including Catholic Church, Seventh Heaven Bar & Lounge, 1602 Hotel, Lourita Hotel & Suites, Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries among others in lfako-ljaiye, Abule-Egba, Alagbado, Command, Abesan Estate, and Dopemu have been shut for floating environmental rules.

 

The commissioner who emphasized the importance of environmental standards, urged residents to always alert LASEPA in cases of breach of public peace by public outlets.
