Unai Emery has won the Barclays Manager of the Month award for December 2023, topping a four-man shortlist, beating Andoni Iraola, Jurgen Klopp and David Moyes to the prize after leading Aston Villa up to second place in the table.
Aston Villa lost only one of their seven matches in a month that included back-to-back clean-sheet victories over both Manchester City and Arsenal.
Emery also oversaw a late turnaround win at Brentford, and an even later 3-2 victory over Burnley that extended Villa’s unbeaten home Premier League run to 17 matches.
It is the second time the 52-year-old has won the award, adding to his one from April 2023. Only Martin O’Neill, with four, has won it more times as Villa manager.
Emery won December’s award after votes from the public were combined with those of a panel of experts.
