Lagos state Government has expressed the desire to model the state’s rail system after the Beijing Subway which covers over 800 kilometres stretch of train connectivity across the city.

 

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the announcement via X, sharing details of his discussions with the General Manager of the Beijing Subway Signalling System Centre, Tang Zhu who took him on tour of the signaling system with over forty rail lines and more than 500 train stations.

 

According to the governor, a state like Lagos can learn from a system that has been running efficiently for over 55 years with a similar signalling system to enhance efficiency, safety, security, and technology.

He also submitted that the train system as a driver for the State’s economic value and a vital means of transporting masses across the city, will take top priority in his administration’s agenda.

 

Sanwo-Olu has been on a working visit to China to work out partnership with relevant companies in order to foster investment and boost state transport sector.
