In a motion of urgent national importance, sponsored by Babajimi Benson, the lawmakers expressed concerned that the incident posed a risk of demoralising the military, appealing to the servicemen to ensure they abide by the law, avoiding any form of retaliation.

The lawmakers also agreed that the Committee on Defence will lead the process of investigation and reconciliation, to understand the details of the incidence, to ensure justice and fairness.

Recall 17 military personnel were killed last week in Okuama, a community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State after a peace mission.

The Okuama community was razed following the killing, however, the Nigerian Army assured residents of the area of no reprisal attacks.
