As I walked the dusty roads of Ido-Ekiti for the funeral of Prophet Sam Olu-Alo’s father, I was struck by the outpouring of grief from the community.

Hundreds of widows and indigent residents gathered to mourn the passing of the father of their benefactor, reflecting the deep impact Prophet Sam Olu-Alo has had on this town in the Northern zone of Ekiti.

Prior to his current status of grandeur, Prophet Olu-Alo came from an impoverished childhood that offered little indication of the great spiritual leader he would become.

Born in Ekiti to a father who was a local guard, his family struggled to afford even basic necessities. He barely dreamt of furthering his education, as poverty forced him to drop out after finishing secondary school.

During those difficult youthful years, Olu-Alo had a fortuitous encounter that set the course for his destiny. One day while working as a bricklayer, a mentally ill man randomly approached him and declared that God would one day use him mightily. In Olu-Alo’s time and culture, such individuals were disregarded. Yet this prophecy left an impression.

For years, he laboured through menial jobs and experienced periods of homelessness. He slept on bare floors or vacant lots while barely earning enough to eat. It was an oppressive season of obscurity and adversity. However, Olu-Alo continued to feel spiritually burdened to help liberate people from suffering.

God would ultimately honour Olu-Alo’s willingness to obey the divine call, even when his own situation seemed hopeless. Today, the Cleric has served his time as Coordinator at Mountain of Mercy, Erio-Ekiti, Ekiti State, and at the Babalola Memorial International Miracle Camp Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State. He is a revivalist and without doubt, God is using him mightily both in Nigeria and overseas, through the Grace and Mercy Prayer Mountain Worldwide aka Adamimogo to set people free from bondage and captivity and to preach the gospel to the hopeless.

Prophet Sam Olu-Alo’s journey from humble beginnings, with limited formal education beyond secondary school, is nothing short of remarkable.

However, what sets him apart is not just his rise to prominence but his unwavering commitment to answering the call of God and channeling his success towards uplifting others, especially in the realm of education.

In October 2023, during the burial rites for his father, the cleric exemplified his dedication to education by donating blocks of classrooms, computers, and toilets to two schools in Ido-Ekiti. This act of generosity was not an isolated incident in Ido-Ekiti but part of a broader initiative that included the establishment of the community LIGHT CITY library, Ido-Osi, a haven for students and scholars alike to access upto date books and research materials.

What distinguishes Prophet Olu-Alo is his belief that charity should begin at home. Through his Sam Olu-Alo foundation, he ensures that students from his state, Ekiti, have the opportunity to pursue education by covering the costs of exams such as WAEC and JAMB.

Beyond the realms of education, Olu-Alo is often regarded as “Oko Opo” meaning husband of the widows because of his constant support for them. He has several widows, elderly persons and sick people on his “social safety net programme” where many of them receive about #10,000 monthly.

Central to his impactful efforts is the ‘Nitori Ogo’ program, which translates to ‘Because of Glory: My Story’, which airs on Adamimogo 93.1FM, Lagos Every Sunday at 9pm and his hosted by the Cleric, alongside suave broadcaster, Dele Adeyanju.

This initiative has become a beacon of hope for the less privileged, the visually impaired, the ailing, unintended dropouts, and those rejected despite their talents. Through ‘Nitori Ogo,’ the cleric extends a helping hand, providing aid and leveraging his connections with high-profile Nigerians to assist those in need.

Reports reveal a consistent pattern of benevolence from Prophet Sam Olu-Alo. Beyond education, he has contributed significantly to various charitable causes, creating a ripple effect that touches the lives of many.

In Ido-Ekiti, even the Monarch, the Olojudo of Ido-Ekiti, Oba Ayorinde Ilori Faboro who serves as the Head of the Council of Obas in Ekiti admits that Cleric has fast-tracked development in the community and used him as a reference point for other well meaning indigenes of Ido-Ekiti.

While prophets are often associated with predicting the future, Prophet Sam Olu-Alo is actively shaping the future by alleviating the struggles of numerous individuals.

In the ongoing nine-day Global Convention at his Chuch Campground in Ilamija, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, Prophet Olu-Alo announced a week-long training for youths on making confectionery, head gear styling, soap making among other skills, alongside support funds to kick off commercial operations.

On the sidelines, Prophet Olu-Alo also aligned with the recent environmental policy of the Lagos State Government with the launch of a new toilet facility at the Ilamija Campground of the Church in Lagos.

He said the facilities with a well-planned maintenance process was to dissuade open defecation which pollutes the air.

There is no doubt that the Cleric’s commitment to education, empowerment, and community development serves as a model for other well-meaning Clerics, Nigerians, and politicians.

One can’t help but wonder if Nigeria would not grow at a quicker pace if others follows his footsteps as he stands as a testament to the transformative power of genuine compassion and selfless giving.
