The cabinet of embattled Rivers Governor, Simnalayi Fubara has been hit by the exodus of no less than five Commissioners.

Rivers State Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu, the state Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma, and the Commissioner for Works, George-Kelly Alabo, are the latest among those who resigned in 24 hours.

Earlier, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Zacchaeus Adangor, SAN, and the Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Woke, resigned from Fubara’s cabinet

The former officials are considered key allies of former Governor of Rivers and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike who has been embroiled in a political battle with Fubara.

Recall that 27 lawmakers loyal to Wike recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.

However, four lawmakers led by Edison Ehie and loyal to Governor Fubara went on to declare their seats vacant while calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct fresh elections to replace them.
