The Bayelsa State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and incumbent Governor, Douye Diri, has be declared winner of the election by the independent national electoral commission, INEC.
Resident electoral commissioner, Professor Farouq Kuta declared Diri winner having polled a total of 175,196 votes while Timipre Sylva polled 110,108 votes and the Labour Party (LP) scored a total of 905 to come a distant third.
Although APC agent, refused to sign the result sheet, claiming INEC had colluded with opposition party to doctor the election, stating that his party will seek redress through constitutional means while PDP agent claimed his party won convincingly faulting APC for trying to play pranks.
However, agent of the Peoples democratic party, submitted that the election was free and transparent, lauding INEC for a job well done while insinuating that the APC had attempted to soil the integrity of the election.
