The Opposition Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo state has trivialized the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in the political crisis between Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, noting that it would change nothing.

Recall President Tinubu had asked all the key political figures to maintain status quo in a meeting at the state house, Abuja.

The President’s intervention ensures that an ailing Akeredolu who has been running the affairs of the state from Ibadan, Oyo state capital retains his position while Aiyedatiwa remains Deputy Governor.

Aiyedatiwa had thanked the President for his intervention, pledged to maintain the status quo and urged all members of the State Executive Council to rally around the Governor and himself to bring the dividend of democracy to the people of Ondo State.

But the PDP, through its Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, described the meeting as a mere window dressing, stressing that if Akeredolu, does not return to the state, there would be no meaningful resolution of the crisis.

Peretei made it clear that although the impeachment of the Deputy Governor will no longer see the daylight, as long as Akeredolu remains in hiding, the cat and mouse race  between the duo will continue.
