Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited says Port Harcourt refinery will begin refining crude in December, promising that plans are in top gear to ensure other small-scale refineries are at optimal level to compliment production.

 

Chief executive office of the company, Mele Kyari speaking during a session stated that the coming months will usher in a complement change in the downstream sector with Dangote refinery and other support system set to kick start crude collection and processing, which he said will catapult Nigeria to a massive fuel exporting state in 2024.

 

Although Kyari agreed that the refineries will not immediately meet the daily consumption requirement of Nigeria but stated that it will provide a solid pedestal to launch a more reliable national supply.

 

Meanwhile, the NPPCL Boss denied knowledge of alleged fuel scarcity making the rounds, insisting that few queues in some fuel station is not enough indication that there is scarcity.

 

According to him, the company is adequately prepared for the yuletide, imploring Nigerians not to engage in panic purchase which he said can lead to artificial scarcity.
