Nigeria’s Super Eagles will be without ace striker, Taiwo Awoniyi when they take on the Warriors of Zimbabwe on Sunday in Butare, Rwanda, for the second fixtures of the 2026 world cup qualifiers.

The lanky attacker started the game against Lesotho in the attack alongside Victor Boniface before he was replaced in the 59th minute by the OGC Nice forward Terem Moffi

According to the update from the team camp, Awoniyi sustained a groin injury in the game against the Crocodile of Lesotho and he has been ruled out of the encounter slated for Huye Stadium.

Awoniyi is expected to return to his club in England for further check to determine the extent of the injury.
