The chairman of Nigeria’s Governors forum, and the governor of Kwara state, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak has assured Nigerians that governors are not resting on their oars to ensure that the persistent factors leading to food shortage and hike in food prices are addressed.

 

The governor speaking at the launch of the renewed hope food security agenda, in Niger state, revealed that the governors under his leadership have an agreement to work together to permanently erase the hardship in their state.

 

On his part, Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-olu again argued that the current economic situation in Nigeria is a wakeup call for the subnational to take responsibility for the welfare of their people, reducing dependency on the federal government.

In his own submission, Benue state governor, Hyacinth Alia hailed Niger state governor, Umar Bago for challenging his state to venture into sustainable food production, that can translate into foreign exchange, employment opportunities and revenue for the states and the nation.

 

The governors also vowed to work out a sustainable road map to maintain interstate transactions that will further empower the locals and boost national economy.
