The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria says the planned palliative package by the federal government to assist manufacturers and other members in the chain to alleviate the crunch in production due to economic realities is laudable.

Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Segun Ajayi-Kadir, said this during a televised interview, stating that the intervention is timely and a demonstration of government’s readiness to assist the industry.

Ajayi-Kadir also advocated proper implementation of the program, stating that the scheme can only yield results if the appropriate fund is disbursed to the appropriate industries, with close monitoring to avoid diversion of tax payers’ funds.

The MAN director general, however, said that the exit of multinationals from the country should serve as a lesson to the government, adding that it provides opportunity to promote local manufacturers more that foreign investors as that is more enduring.
