Allegations of financial misappropriation continues to rock the labour party after now suspended national treasurer of the party, Oluchi Obiora accused the national chairman, Julius Abure of diversion of fund.

 

Obiora in a televised interview restated that she had evidences to prove that Abure used the party’s resources for private ventures, expressing dismay at her suspension instead of the party’s leadership to investigate and find out the truth of the matter.

 

Responding to the allegations, the national publicity secretary of the party, Obiora Ifoh faulted the suspended party official for not following due process and allowing the party guidelines to take its proper course, noting that such actions contravenes the norms of the party.

 

Earlier, the presidential candidate of the party, in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi had promised that external auditors will be invited to investigate the matter, stating that any irregularity uncovered will be made public and appropriate sanctions meted out as stipulated by party laws.

 

The current crisis rocking the party is the after shoot of allegations by the treasurer that the chairman of the party had embezzled N1.2 billion realised from donations and sales of forms to some aspirants in the 2023 polls.
