The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has welcomed the decision of the Senate to probe the alleged Admission Racketeering in Universities.

JAMB’s Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede in a statement released by the board today, commended the Senate for giving  an opportunity to the Exam body to defend itself over examination racketeering allegation.

Oloyede assured the public that the board and its staff would be vindicated as he expressed delight over the mediating role the exam body has played between candidates and institutions in ensuring equity and fairness.

Recall that the Senate had agreed to investigate an allegation of admission racketeering in the Nation’s Universities, following a motion moved by Lawmaker Onyeka Nwebonyi of Ebonyi North .

Nwebonyi, who cited admission travails of one Chinyere Ekwe at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), alleged that some university staff members conspired with JAMB’s officials to carry out unwholesome practices.
