The Imo State Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba, says officials of the state government were not among suspects arrested in connection with the assault on the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero.

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, on Wednesday, said some suspects were arrested over the assault on Ajaero in Imo State on November 1, 2023, but Emelumba argued that the suspects arrested were not officials of the state government.

Speaking during a televised interview, the commissioner denied any government involvement in the attack, stating that the governor condemned the attack, describing it as unfortunate.

The organised labour had embarked on a nationwide strike to protest the maltreatment of Ajaero among other things before calling off the strike yesterday.
