Labour party in Edo state has voted a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Olumide Akpata as its governorship candidate for the September 2024 governorship election in the State.
The Deputy Governor of Abia State Ikechukwu Emeta who was the returning officer for the election declared Akpata as the winner of the election, charging him to represent the interest of the people, abiding by the ethics of the party.
Responding, the governorship candidate stated that he was humbled by the acceptance and support of the party, promising to bring his experience to bear in ensuring all round development in the state.
In August, the corporate lawyer, resigned from the law firm Templars where he served as a senior partner, joining the labour party two months later to formally declare his interest in the governorship race.
