The federal government says it has developed a frame work to address massive exodus of doctors in search of greener pastures.

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, speaking at a briefing argued that no country in the world has adequate number of medical practitioners to meet its needs need, so they result to poaching from other countries.

According to him, developed nations are recruiting Nigerian doctors in high numbers because they have been well trained by the government, making them useful and valued in other countries.

He however noted that the ministry of health and education will develop migration policies that will cater for the numbers of those that decide to leave, availing the country a reasonable amount of medical personnel, to meet the immediate need.

The minister also called on parents to encourage their children to study medical courses and also urged states to establish training institutes where fresh doctors and nurses would be trained to fill the vacuum that has been created by those who left the country to practice elsewhere.
