The federal government has restated commitment to the welfare of host communities where mining activities take place, to avoid clash of interest, hostilities and unfair treatments.

The minister of solid mineral development, Dele Alake said this during a televised interview, explaining that the custom of mining without the consent of the federal government and host communities will be a thing of the past with new rules being implemented by the ministry.

According to him, taking firm action against illegal mining activities in Nigeria will help tackle insecurity as some hosting communities result to kidnapping and criminality when they feel cheated or underappreciated.

The minister however appealed to host communities to see investments as their own, fostering sincere partnership with investors, for their immediate benefit and the economy of the nation.
