Edo Assembly serves Shaibu impeachment notice

The embattled deputy Governor of Edo, Philip Shaibu has more battles to fight as the State House of Assembly has commenced impeachment proceedings him.

The announcement of the impeachment proceeding was made by the Majority Leader, Charity Aiguobarueghian who revealed that a petition which is based on perjury and the revelation of government secrets had been signed by 21 out of the 24 members.

The speaker of the house, Blessing Agbebaku, acknowledged the receipt of the petition and directed the clerk of the house, Yahaya Omogbai, to serve the impeachment notice on the deputy governor.

Shaibu has been caught in a major controversy with Governor Godwin Obaseki over his desire to succeed him.
