The prospects of Donald Trump getting the Republican ticket have received a boost after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ended his presidential campaign and endorsed the former president.

DeSantis’ decision, less than a week after losing to Trump in Iowa brings an end to a previously promising campaign in which DeSantis was seen as Trump’s biggest obstacle to getting the Republican ticket.
His exit from the race now sets up former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley as the major challenger to Trump who has maintained an iron grip on the Republican electorate despite facing four criminal prosecutions.
