The appeal court sitting in Lagos has reserved ruling in the appeal filed by the labour party and the peoples democratic party (pPDP) against the re-election of Governor Babajide sanwo-olu.
The labour party candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Abdulazeez Adediran of PDP, are challenging the sept. 25, ruling of the election tribunal which upheld the march 18, re-election of Sanwo-olu.
After hearing the appeals, presiding justice, Yargata Nimpar said the date for judgement would be communicated to the parties.
Rhodes-Vivour challenged Sanwo-olu’s qualification to contest on the premise that his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat had dual citizenship and wore allegiance to the USA.
But counsel for Sanwo-olu, Wole Olanipeku (SAN), urged the court to dismiss the appeal on the grounds that the issue was never brought before the tribunal.
