The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has demanded that the 36 state governors and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nyesom Wike provide documents on how they have spent their trillions of FAAC allocations since 1999.

The group also requested to publish the documents widely and urged the government to invite the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission,ICPC, and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to track and monitor the allocation of spending and investigate any corruption allegations linked to it.

The request made in a Freedom of Information, request follows the disbursement of N1.1 trillion to the federal, state, and local governments for March 2024 alone.

SERAP noted that trillions of FAAC allocations received by Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT have allegedly been mismanaged making Nigerians socially and economically vulnerable.
