The Senate has summoned has summoned security chiefs and others over Christmas Eve killings in Plateau State.

 

In a motion raised by Adams Oshiomhole, the lawmakers demanded adequate explanation on the inadequate intelligence that permitted the attack, inviting the security chiefs to brief the Senate on the exact situation in a closed session.

 

The lawmakers also urge the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to direct its agencies to provide relief materials, especially building materials to the victims of the crisis with immediate effect, to enable them relocate back to their homes and decongest the internally displaced persons’ camps.

 

Meanwhile. the Defence Headquarters through the acting Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau has dismissed video footage being circulated on social media depicting soldiers allegedly mistreating women under the caption: “Operation Rainbow in Plateau State”.

 

Gusau said the video in question originated from a 2021 incident in Sambisa Forest involving spouses of Boko Haram members during the capture of their strongholds.
