The Senate has strongly condemned all forms of violence against women and girls and reiterated the need for more robust measures to safeguard their interests.

This position was taken by Senators as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence on Women and the Girl-Child was led by seventeen Senators, spearheaded by Ireti Kingibe.

Notable figures such as Adams Oshiomhole, Natasha Akpoti, and Abdul Ningi voiced their support for the motion and acknowledged the virtues and sacrifices made by women globally, with a specific emphasis on those in Nigeria.

The motion and resolution were echoed by President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
