President Bola Tinubu has conferred the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) on every player of the Super Eagles that participated at the AFCON.

 

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu commended the team, the coach, the crew, and the entire management team for their hard work and sacrifice, making Nigeria proud.

 

The President who made the pronouncement when he received the players and officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) at the Council Chamber, stated that their giant stride is an inspiration to younger Nigerians and a testament of the Nigerian spirit.

 

Meanwhile, each Super Eagles player is expecting the sum of $27,500 equivalent of N41Million from the Nigeria Football Federation being outstanding payment for their victories in the quarter-final and Semifinal match bonuses at the just-concluded 2023 African Nations Cup in Cote D’Ivoire.

 

According to reports, each player got their $30,000 equivalent of N45Million for getting the Second Round ticket from Group A of the tournament, the NFF has also paid $12,500 for beating Cameroon 2-0 in the Round of 16.

 

Nigeria beat Angola 1-0 in the quarter-final and South Africa 4-2 on penalties in the semi-final to book a final game with Cote D’Ivoire.
