Oyo state government says it has commenced integrity test on some structures in the state, in an attempt to measure the level of damage by the deadly explosion at the Dejo Oyelese Street, Adeyi Avenue, Old Bodija, Ibadan, last Tuesday.

In a statement by the state commissioner for health, Oluwasherimi Ajetunmobi, the state government has observed that the blast may have more devasting effect than projected, with the integrity of some buildings compromised although they appear intact.

According to her, experts will be dispersed around the perimeter, to thoroughly examine structures around to ensure compromised buildings are demolished if necessary to avoid future disasters, expressing confidence that the government is equal to the task.

The commissioner also stated that the rescue operations continue with government willing to cater to the needs of victims, including their meals and treatment bills, while encouraging those in the affected areas to use nose mask to avoid respiratory infections.

Ajetunmobi however stated that the death toll is four although some severed body parts had been recovered but could not be placed since forensics are still carrying out investigations.
