Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has commended Abia State government and the House of Assembly, for repealing the pension law that allows former Governors and their Deputies to enjoy life pension.
Obasanjo said this during a courtesy visit to Governor Alex Otti, hailing the governor for his courage and determination to serve the people, noting that pensions to the former Governors and Deputies were outrageous and unpatriotic.
The Executive Bill repealing the former pension’s law was assented to by the governor on Thursday night after the House of Assembly passed it into law on Tuesday.
The former President expressed hope that other political leaders will take a cue, embracing service and sincerity over their stomach.
