Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki has charged state governors to quit undue reliance on the federal government by investing and developing the available resource in their domain, for the good of residents and the nation at large.

Obaseki said this in Takum Taraba, during the swearing in of the new chief of Takun, Ahmed Bushi, explaining that the state like other Nigerian states have what it takes for self-development, calling on stakeholders to wake up to their responsibilities.

On the area of security, Former governor of Gongola state, a former administrative division of Nigeria, Jonah Jang threw his weight behind calls for the establishment of state police, insisting that the Nigerian state is too big for the current structure.

Jang also appealed to leaders at all levels to embrace peace, end ethnic disputes and focus on improving the lives of Taraba people.
