Members of the Nigeria labour congress (NLC) have started protests in several parts of the country over the biting economic hardship.

 

NLC President Joe Ajaero in a statement on Tuesday insisted that the peaceful rally is to amplify the voice of the people and draw the attention of the government to the plight of Nigerians.

 

In Lagos, the union led by its leader, Funmi Sessi also took to the street, demanding that the government take instant action in alleviating the sufferings of the people.

 

Some affiliates of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the state, also joined the protest, stating that the movement represents the emancipation struggle for all Nigerian workers and masses.

 

National President of the Precision Electrical and Related Equipment Senior Staff Association (PERESSA), Rufus Olusesan, adding his voice to the criticisms against the administration of President Bola Tinubu, Olusesan said Nigeria was suffering amid plenty and wondered why the policies of the government had worsened the economic situation.

 

Meanwhile, oyo state governor, seyi makinde was pictured among labour members protesting in ibadan, the state capital.
