Lagos state waste management authority has declared zero tolerance on dumping of refuse along Lekki-Epe express way.

The managing director of LAWMA, Muyiwa Gbadegeshin, said this through his social media page, noting that shanties and illegal roadside traders along Lekki-Epe Expressway have used the median and roadside as the dumping ground for their waste, leaving out long suffering

Gbadegeshin said the monitoring and Compliance team, in collaboration with environmental officials have begun the demolition of illegal shanties and kiosks at Sangotedo, Lakowe, Awoyaya and other locations along the expressway.

The LAWMA boss also revealed that officials are arresting cart pushers, seizing and destroying their carts, and demolishing their abodes, with intentions to apprehend and prosecute homeowners and businesses who patronize them.

Gbadegeshin submitted that these actions are crucial for maintaining public safety, reducing environmental hazards, and ensuring a cleaner, more organized community, to reduce the spread of epidemics.
