Officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency have begun the immediate clearing of shop extensions that hindered big fire truck to get to the scene of a fire that gutted a Mandilas Building in Broad Street in the Lagos Island area of the state.

 

In a statement by the senior special assistant to Governor sanwo-olu on new media, Jubril Gawat, the first responders are still very much on ground, the road Cordoned off and alternative roads are being well managed by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), amongst others.

 

Fire gutted a warehouse in the 14-storey building on Sunday, with goods worth hundreds of millions destroyed, although no casualty has been recorded so far.

Earlier, the director of the fire and rescue service, Margaret Adeseye, said the inferno started on the first floor and spread to the fourth floor of the 49-year-old building.
