The independent national electoral commission, INEC has issued certificate of return to Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State and Kogi State governor-elect, Usman Ododo, following the conclusion of Saturday’s off-cycle governorship election.

Governor Diri, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Bayelsa, and his running mate, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, were presented with their certificates of return today at the state headquarters of INEC, Yenagoa while Ododo of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) and his deputy, Joel Salifu, received their certificates at the INEC headquarters in Lokoja, Kogi State.

Earlier, Diri lauded president Tinubu for allowing a credible election under his watch, stating that democracy has been entrenched in the state by his actions, while advocating for an end to electoral violence.

In Kogi, Ododo who emerged victorious after defeating Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Dino Melaye of the PDP stated that his ambition is to consolidate on t6he achievements of his predecessor, calling on aggrieved parties to embrace peace.
