As part of strategies to tackle unemployment and improve livelihoods, the leadership of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government today hosted the Empowerment and Graduation Ceremony of its first batch of Polythene training, comprising 60 persons.

According to the Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. Usman Akanbi Hamzat, the training and subsequent empowerment was driven by the idea that such a move would reduce instances of unemployment and improve livelihoods in the local government.

The Chairman’s remarks were supported by the Council-Manager, Akeem Adegbenro, and the Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Ibironke Abatan, who affirmed that the beneficiaries underwent four weeks of rigorous training and had been equipped with resources to become employers of labour themselves.

Several beneficiaries shared their experiences, confirming that the training was indeed rigorous but that they had gained immense knowledge through the process.
