The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has again sent a strong message to persons advocating military take over as solution to the challenges facing Nigeria.

Addressing participants at a seminar on career planning and management organised by the Army headquarters, the COAS said the Army has no plans to truncate democracy in the country, promising that the army will defend democracy, which remains the choice of the people.

According Lagbaja it is the duty of elected leaders to lead while the military protects the sovereignty and integrity of the nation as enshrined in our constitution.

The army chief also charged officers to remain above board in the discharge of their professional duties, warning that improper conduct will not be tolerated.
