The presidential election petitions tribunal Abuja will today begin pre-hearing in the petitions challenging the outcome of the February 25 presidential election.
Recall that the independent national electoral commission declared that Bola Tinubu of the all-progressives congress winner of the election, having polled the highest votes which Atiku Abubakar of PDP, Peter obi of labor party rejected.
Atiku, in his 66-page petition, is praying the tribunal to declare him winner of the poll or order a fresh election, while obi is praying the tribunal to nullify Tinubu’s election.
In the meantime, Atiku Abubakar of PDP, through his legal team led by Chris Cche, SAN, has applied for an order directing the court’s registry and the parties on modalities for admission of media practitioners and their equipment into the courtroom.
According to him, such sensitive case should be available for the public to view real time, for record and posterity’s sake.
