Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has expressed disbelief at the news of a call between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and President-elect, Bola Tinubu.
Earlier, it was reported that Blinken had a phone conversation with Tinubu, to assure him of the U.S. commitment to strengthening the U.S.-Nigeria relationship with the incoming administration.
However, Atiku in a tweet today stated that the gesture was a contradiction to the position of the US on Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election.
According to him, acknowledging the 2023 presidential election result can be demoralising to citizens.
Atiku Abubakar and the people’s democratic party have rejected the February 25th election that produced Bola Tinubu as the winner, describing it as a sham.
