Senator elect of kogi central senatorial district, Ntasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has alleged that the kogi state governor Yahaya Bello offered her 70 million naira to exit the 2019 kogi central senatorial district elections for his preferred candidate.
She noted that her refusal to accept the bribe offered to her while contesting for the senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress, spurred her exit from the party which led to multiple attacks from the governor who saw her as a threat to his political ambition.
She made these allegations following the congratulatory messages of governor bello After the court of appeal’s verdict declaring her winner of the kogi central senatorial district elections held in february,
Akpoti also alleged that the governor made several attempt to assassinate her, and thwart the electoral process.
She added that intimidation thrives because of weak institutions as she urged the independent national electoral commission to prosecute electoral officers guilty of violating electoral laws.
