The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared promoter of Sunrise Power and Transmission Limited, Leno Adesanya, wanted for alleged conspiracy and bribery in the controversial $6 billion Mambilla scandal.

The charges are linked to the trial of former Minister of Power, Olu Agunloye who allegedly approved the $6 billion Mambilla hydropower contract without proper approvals or budget allocation.

The former Minister is said to have received N3.6 million from Adesanya and Sunrise Power in 2019 after claiming he secured federal approval for the Mambilla project.

Although Adesanya denied the allegations, his company, Sunrise Power is demanding 2.3 billion compensations from Nigeria on the premise that it spent millions of dollars on financial and legal consultants before the contract was jettisoned.
