World Health Organization, Palestinian activists has called for a global strike as part of a coordinated effort to pressure Israel into a ceasefire.

Director general of the organization, Tedros Ghebreyesus, speaking at a summit insisted that only a complete ceasefire can ease the tension in Gaza, noting that the level of aid needed in the enclave is enormous.

According to him, the war cannot continue while discussions of de-escalations are on, and thousands including women and children are exposed to hostilities which he said aggravates the possibility of peaceful resolution.

Meanwhile, UNICEF representative in Egypt, Jeremy Hopkins, says the humanitarian situation at the Rafah crossing in Southern Gaza is fast becoming a concerning, appealing for more aid and humanitarian support, noting that all borders to Gaza must be opened to meet the needs of people.

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he would not give up appealing for a ceasefire, after the United States vetoed a UN Security Council proposal demanding an immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons.
