Traders say they lost goods worth up to One billion naira to the inferno that engulfed four buildings in Dosunmu market in the Lagos Island Local Government area of Lagos State.
A trader in the market, who spoke exclusively to Adamimogo Fm, Lagos, on condition of anonymity, said the fire incident was caused by an explosion from a generating set.
Citing a personal loss of up to ₦10 million worth of goods, the trader evaluated the possible loss of goods to be up to one billion naira, noting that it was extremely difficult to salvage any goods due to the speed of the fire.
Blaming the lack of fire extinguishers in the market, the trader demanded the enforcement of mandatory possession of fire extinguishers in all shops.
It is the second fire incident in Dosunmu market within a month.
