President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of Nigerian troops, pledging increased resources to support their well-being.
The President gave the assurance during the inauguration of the Bola Tinubu Barracks in Abuja.
Lauding the sacrifices of the troops, the President assured them of sustained government backing but urged them to maintain the new facilities.
Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede said the barracks which comprises 614 accommodations for officers and soldiers, worship centers, sports facilities, and other infrastructure would ease the 40% accommodation deficit among Nigerian Army personnel.
While acknowledging the effort, Oluyede noted the barracks are a fraction of the Army’s housing needs and appealed to the President for continued investment to address the accommodation shortfall.
