Southern Governors Forum says it is working out modalities to surmount the peculiar challenges affecting the region and set agenda on how to support the federal government in restoring national peace and progress.

 

The Forum which is the umbrella body of all the 17 governors in South-West, South-South and South-East geo-political zones of Nigeria, met in Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State, under the leadership of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

 

The meeting is holding about two weeks after Governor Sanwo-Olu was elected the Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum in Lagos, where he promised to rally leaders in the region to jointly put an end to insecurity, food scarcity and other issues in the region.

 

 

Some of the governors present at the meeting include, host governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Chairman, Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Alex Otti (Abia), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Bassey Otu (Cross River) Also representing their governors are Deputy Governors Chinyere Ekomaru (Imo), Olayide Adelami (Ondo) and Monday John Onyeme.
